C&EN: ChemFORWARD Offers a Path Beyond PFAS “forever Chemicals”
Chemical & Engineering News has published an insightful and detailed look at the “forever chemicals,” or PFAS, that are widely used in food packaging, exploring efforts to replace these environmentally persistent and sometimes toxic chemicals. ChemFORWARD was pleased to have Executive Director Stacy Glass contribute our perspective on the important work being done in identifying, assessing and verifying safer options.
“We know there are good alternatives out there,” she said in the article. And ChemFORWARD is striving to make this information easy for product formulators to see and use, helping companies like those in the article raise the visibility of their pursuit of safer alternatives.
“As part of the Safe + Circular Materials Collaborative, a partnership between ChemFORWARD and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, some food packaging products are undergoing assessment for inclusion in the ChemFORWARD database,” C&EN’s Cheryl Hogue wrote in the article.
